CICAE-UCJC School for Judges: The Continuity of Learning Under Debate

The CICAE-UCJC Debate League is not just a competition. It is an educational project that helps students develop essential skills such as critical thinking, reasoning, active listening, and effective communication.

With the launch of the CICAE-UCJC School for Judges, CICAE takes another step forward in this educational journey, offering students and faculty an opportunity to continue growing within the world of academic debate once their time as debaters has come to an end.

The School for Judges was created as a natural extension of the learning process that many students begin in debate tournaments. After years of developing public speaking and argumentation skills, participants can take the next step: learning to evaluate debates with discernment, rigor, and objectivity, thereby becoming accredited judges for the League.

This initiative is essential for the future of the competition, as it helps create a stable pool of trained, committed judges who are familiar with the educational philosophy of debate. The School thus helps ensure the quality of the competitions and strengthen a learning community that extends beyond the tournaments themselves.

In addition, the program offers practical, accredited training organized by CICAE and Camilo José Cela University, in collaboration with Train&Talk, which allows participants to join the official panel of judges for the CICAE-UCJC Debate League.
