Public Speaking Tournament

Oratory, the art of elevating the thought.

We would all have liked someone to have taught us how to speak in public when we were young. Today we know that it is one of the skills that has the greatest impact on academic, professional and personal success.

The 4th CICAE Public Speaking Competition is an outstanding educational initiative that promotes the development of communication and public speaking skills from an early age.
More than just a competition, it is an educational journey that supports pupils and teachers throughout the academic year and culminates in a major in-person event bringing together CICAE schools.

Objectives

What they will achieve

To develop skills that will serve pupils throughout their lives.

To improve oral communication and public speaking skills.

To develop critical thinking and the ability to reason.

To foster trust, leadership and teamwork.

Learn to communicate confidently in Spanish or English.

Who is it aimed at?

The competition is open to pupils at schools affiliated to CICAE.

Two categories:

Cada centro podrá presentar hasta dos equipos por categoría, formados por cuatro alumnos. Las intervenciones podrán realizarse en español o inglés.

What does it involve?

A learning journey throughout the academic year.

The tournament combines training and competition in a learning programme that enables pupils to put everything they have learnt into practice.

The CICAE Public Speaking Competition is, first and foremost, an educational project. Teachers and pupils take part throughout the academic year in a programme of face-to-face and online training designed by specialists in communication and public speaking.

Teachers receive training, in Spanish and English, tailored to their level of experience, to learn the fundamentals of public speaking, refine their coaching techniques and acquire the tools to prepare and support their teams. Pupils develop skills such as oral communication, argumentation, improvisation, body language and managing nerves, gaining practical preparation to tackle the various rounds of the tournament with confidence.

In addition, schools will be able to access optional supplementary training to further strengthen the preparation of teachers and pupils throughout the academic year.

Online qualifying round
Students submit an individual video, which is assessed by the Academic Committee. Those with the highest scores progress to the face-to-face stage.
Final in Madrid
The qualifying teams take part in a major event where they compete in various public speaking and communication challenges.

An experience that goes beyond competition

Taking part in the CICAE Public Speaking Competition means learning to communicate clearly, think critically, work as part of a team and gain confidence in public speaking. It is a formative experience that leaves a lasting impression both inside and outside the classroom.
