What is CICAE?

CICAE is an association of independent private schools of national scope and international projection. It is made up of 58 schools from all over Spain with a great track record, and a reference for the excellent education they provide to students, for their academic results, for always being at the forefront of educational innovation and for their commitment to continuous improvement.

The association was created with the vocation of contributing the long experience of these centers for the progress of education and with the mission of promoting and defending private and independent education in Spain.

CICAE is a space for different institutions to promote educational debate, act as a driving force for innovation, manage and share the knowledge acquired over decades of experience, make proposals and collaborate with initiatives and ideas. All this, in order to continue contributing to the advancement of education, to value the importance of a strategic and essential sector within the Spanish education system and to promote the joint progress of its associates.

Defense of private and independent education

To be an instrument for the promotion and defense of private and independent education, valuing what it contributes to our educational system, protecting its interests, proposing initiatives in favor of the good development of the private network and demanding the correction of those irregular practices that harm the sector.

Contribute to the improvement of the quality of education in Spain.

To contribute to the improvement of the quality of education in Spain, with the conviction that the future of any country will always be conditioned by the education provided to present and future generations.

Autonomy for private schools

Achieve a higher level of autonomy for private schools, with the objective of increasing the quality of their teaching and their good management.

Efficient, fair and transparent financing of education

Propose solutions for an efficient, fair and transparent financing of education, in which direct aid to families who do not choose centers supported by public funds for their children's education is valued.

Learning community where talent and knowledge can be shared

To create a learning community where talent and knowledge can be shared and where the exchange of best practices of its partner institutions can be encouraged: pedagogical research, search for new methods, evaluation of pedagogical systems, exchange of experiences and best practices, teacher training or school organization techniques.

Promote the internationalization of CICAE and its associated centers.

Promote the internationalization of CICAE and its associated centers. CICAE schools are prepared to offer the best education to international students, with immersive Spanish language plans and individualized attention.

    Para considerar la solicitud de admisión como socio de número es necesario reunir los siguientes requisitos mínimos, que están mencionados en el Art. 8 Cap. II “Admisión de Socios” de los Estatutos de la Asociación:

    • Ser empresa, entidad u organización dedicada a la enseñanza privada no concertada, y no financiada con fondos públicos. Por tanto, con objeto de resaltar la identidad y necesidades propias de la enseñanza privada no subvencionada dentro del sistema educativo nacional, no pueden formar parte de esta asociación los centros concertados.
    • Impartir todos los niveles o etapas de su sistema educativo correspondiente (Educación Infantil, Primaria, Secundaria, Bachillerato).
    • Acreditar una antigüedad mínima de funcionamiento de 5 años, bien en España, o bien en el extranjero.
    • Que el proyecto educativo del centro esté fundamentado en una educación no diferenciada por género en todas las etapas educativas.
    1. Así mismo la comisión de admisión valorará su decisión de acuerdo al cumplimiento de algunos de los siguientes criterios:
      • Tener implantado algún modelo de gestión por procesos y mejora continua.
      • Disponer de proyectos pedagógicos y de innovación en diferentes áreas.
      • Demostrar la utilización de las tecnologías de la información en la práctica docente.
      • Participar en programas educativos internacionales y/o de intercambio.
      • Demostrar una buena trayectoria en los resultados de pruebas externas oficiales y en los resultados académicos de evaluación.
      • Haber obtenido reconocimientos externos del colegio o de sus alumnos en los últimos años.
      • Participar en proyectos de sostenibilidad y responsabilidad corporativa.

    La solicitud de admisión deberá estar avalada por otra institución asociada, que deberá ser citada en la solicitud de nueva inscripción.

    In order to consider the application for admission as a full member, it is necessary to meet the following minimum requirements, which are mentioned in Art. 8 Cap. II “Admission of Members” of the Association’s Bylaws:

    • To be a company, entity or organization dedicated to private education that is not subsidized and not financed with public funds. Therefore, in order to highlight the identity and needs of non-subsidized private education within the national education system, subsidized schools cannot be part of this association.
    • To provide all levels or stages of their corresponding educational system (kindergarten, primary, secondary and high school).
    • To have been in operation for at least 5 years, either in Spain or abroad.
    • That the center’s educational project is based on an education that is not differentiated by gender at all educational stages.
    1. Likewise, the admission committee will evaluate its decision according to the fulfillment of some of the following criteria:
      • To have implemented a process management and continuous improvement model.
      • To have pedagogical and innovation projects in different areas.
      • Demonstrate the use of information technology in teaching practice.
      • Participate in international educational and/or exchange programs.
      • Demonstrate a good track record in official external test scores and academic assessment results.
      • Have obtained external recognition from the school or its students in recent years.
      • Participate in sustainability and corporate responsibility projects.

    The application for admission must be endorsed by another partner institution, which must be cited in the application for re-enrollment.
