International School Sek El Castillo

International School Sek El Castillo, founded in 1972, is a bilingual (Spanish-English) private school located in the northwest area of Madrid, in the Villafranca del Castillo Urbanization, a residential area, only 20 minutes from the city center. It is part of the SEK Educational Institution, an institution with more than 130 years of experience and 11 schools in the world whose origins stem from a century-old family tradition, free and autonomous, committed to the development of quality education.

Pioneer in Spain in the delivery of the 3 programs of the International Baccalaureate Organization® (Primary School Program -PEP-, Middle Years Program -PAI- and Diploma Program -PD-) since 1977, incorporating them into the national curriculum framework.

SEK schools are members of a wide range of organizations that require compliance with a series of quality assurance processes. We are members of the Council of International Schools (CIS), a validation process in which schools are evaluated based on a set of standards.

Our school is also accredited by NEASC and ECIS, making SEK-El Castillo a leading standard for international learning based on the ACE Principles. NEASC accreditation means that we can offer our students the U.S. High School Diploma and/or a Dual Diploma.

SEK-El Castillo has a high performance arts center. We are particularly proud of the School of Music (choir and instrumental ensemble), which prepares students for the Royal School of Music and Trinity College examinations.

It offers its students between the ages of 14 and 18 the opportunity to be part of the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, a complete program focused on the development and training of skills such as leadership, boldness, autonomy, problem-solving and teamwork.

The school also maintains a relationship with Real Madrid and other sports organizations and federations, which prompted the creation of SEK International Sports Academy, a unique and innovative program in Spain, tailored to elite athletes to help them realize their full potential.
