CICAE is holding its 15th Members’ Assembly with a day of reflection on the challenges facing private education in Spain

Madrid, March 13, 2026 — The Association of Private and Independent Schools (CICAE) held its 15th Members’ Assembly yesterday at the Camilo José Cela University campus, with strong participation from principals and representatives of schools from all over Spain. The event served as a forum for reflection and dialogue, where school principals themselves shared experiences, analyses, and proposals regarding the main challenges currently facing the education sector.

During the meeting, participants discussed, among other issues, the current challenges facing the sector and the strengths and opportunities that characterize private and independent schools. Participants particularly emphasized the importance of school autonomy and the development of distinctive educational models as key elements for promoting robust educational initiatives tailored to students’ needs.

The assembly also set aside time to reflect on the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on education, as well as on one of the most significant challenges facing schools: attracting and retaining teachers.

The event took place in an atmosphere of shared reflection and the exchange of experiences among the member schools, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to the continuous improvement of education.

The event concluded with a heartfelt institutional tribute to Gabriel Castellano, in recognition of his career and contribution to the education sector.
