On January 21, 2025, the 2nd Online Session of the IB Learning Communities for International Baccalaureate Coordinators and Teachers will take place.
In three parallel sessions (PYP, MYP and Diploma Programme) we will dive deeper into:
Transdisciplinary Units in the PYP – Session led by Concep Muntada (SEK International Schools)
• The concepts of backward planning and collaborative planning in the PYP.
• Developing a transdisciplinary unit of inquiry step by step.
• From the sections of the planner to the taught curriculum.
• Transdisciplinarity grounded in meaningful connections.
The Personal Project in the MYP – Session led by Alba García (Colegio Brains Arturo Soria)
• Purpose and objective of the project: how the project can be an opportunity to explore individual interests, skills and values.
• Research and planning process: the importance of setting a clear plan with specific goals, a timeline and strategies to organize the work.
• Creating the final product and evaluation.
Strategic Integration of the Diploma Programme Core: TOK, Extended Essay and CAS – Session led by Bernard López (C.E. Mas Camarena)
• Coordinators trained to lead and improve the implementation of the core components.
• Clear strategies to foster interdisciplinary connections.
• A deeper understanding of the core’s impact on students’ holistic development and on the IB learner profile.
The main objective of CICAE’s Learning Communities is to share interests, resources, difficulties and best practices among teachers in order to collaborate in their training process and professional growth in the field of the International Baccalaureate.
