Runnymede College
Founded in 1967, Runnymede College is a British international school located in La Moraleja, Madrid, and one of the longest-established British schools in Spain. Since its beginnings, the school has developed an educational project based on academic excellence, intellectual rigour and the all-round development of its students.
Runnymede College offers a British education from the earliest years through to Sixth Form, supporting pupils throughout their school journey in an international environment. Its educational approach is built on a methodology that combines the development of knowledge and critical thinking with character formation, fostering curiosity, independence, responsibility and respect.
The school maintains close collaboration between families and the institution, seen as an essential element in pupils’ academic and personal development. The quality and commitment of its teaching staff are one of the cornerstones of its educational project.
Education extends beyond the academic sphere through participation in music, drama and sport, which help develop skills such as teamwork, leadership and resilience.
As an independent school, Runnymede College is able to keep its focus on pupils’ educational needs and wellbeing, with the aim of offering a leading British education within an international context.
Runnymede College stands out for combining a solid British academic tradition with a humanist education focused on pupils’ all-round development. Its educational project brings together academic rigour and depth with the fostering of curiosity, critical thinking, independence and character formation. In the early years, learning incorporates active, pupil-centred methodologies, with approaches based on STEAM, Design Thinking, gamification and cooperative project-based learning, encouraging creativity, problem-solving and the practical application of knowledge. Across the different stages, the school maintains a broad and balanced curriculum based on the English National Curriculum, with particular attention to developing independent, intellectually curious pupils who are well prepared to continue their university studies and take on the challenges of a global environment.
