CICAE SHARES ITS PROPOSALS FOR DIRECT AID TO FAMILIES WITH PATRICIA DEL POZO, ANDALUSIAN MINISTER OF EDUCATION

Madrid, December 1, 2023 – Representatives of the Association of Private and Independent Schools – CICAE held a meeting last Wednesday with the Andalusian Minister of Educational Development and Vocational Training, Patricia del Pozo, and the Secretary General of Educational Development, Javier Fernandez . The meeting was attended by Gabriel Castellano, president of CICAE, Ramón Resa, member of the Board of Directors of the association, and Elena Cid, general director.

The meeting, marked by an extraordinary climate of collaboration, allowed both the Regional Ministry and CICAE to carry out a profitable analysis of the situation of the private education sector in Andalusia and its capacity for progress through a series of proposals on which promising lines of joint work were opened.

Firstly, CICAE presented to the Regional Ministry a proposal for aid to families who opt for private education, with tax deductions for educational expenses in compulsory education, as well as a model of scholarships for non-compulsory studies (infant, vocational training and high school).

Likewise, during a very constructive dialogue, CICAE discussed in depth the right to autonomy of private schools in Andalusia, with the commitment of the Regional Ministry to review the interpretation of this right in the centers of this autonomous community.

Lastly, Patricia del Pozo and Javier Fernandez offered CICAE a very encouraging line of collaboration in order to alleviate the problems affecting international baccalaureate students, who are nowadays obliged to take a double entrance exam -national and international- in order to opt to study any degree in Spanish universities.

The Regional Minister of Education and the General Secretary of Educational Development of Andalusia thanked the representatives of CICAE for the meeting held to share their proposals with their autonomous community. For its part, CICAE thanked the Regional Ministry of Education for its absolute respect for the freedom of educational centers and for its spirit of collaboration to promote the improvement of a solid, independent and advantageous private educational system for Andalusia.
