On April 16, CICAE organized a new day of CICAEOrienta, a project focused on creating a learning community and promoting the exchange of experiences among the professionals of the guidance departments of their schools, increasingly eager for support in the face of the current challenges they are facing.

The event took place at the IDEO School, which opened its doors to 52 professionals from management teams and guidance departments who were able to learn first-hand about an inclusive and innovative educational project that combines excellence and highly professional work: “The participation of families and the entire educational community is fundamental to the entire educational process”.
The IDEO School invited the attendees to participate in a day that combined reflection and action, where several aspects were discussed:
- The IDEO School intervention model
- The role of the counselor in your school
- “Adjustments” or individual adaptations
- Diversity plans … for everyone
- SAD – Bloom’s Taxonomy
- Working with families, teachers and external specialists

Elena Montaña, guidance counselor at IDEO School, explained to the more than 50 professionals in attendance how the guidance team works in the inclusive educational model of IDEO School. For her, “
During the day, the guidance department of Escuela IDEO provided answers to four fundamental questions:

- Taking care of my language and spreading the message
Why is it important?
- Encourages respect for differences.
- It promotes equal opportunities based on solidarity and the promotion of participation.
- It is a right that we must achieve.
How do we do it?
- We try to find ways to successfully educate all students, without exclusions.
- Having a global, interactive and systematic vision of the problems.
- We aim to increase the participation of all students in the curriculum and in the school community.
- We are concerned with identifying and minimizing barriers to learning and participation.

As a final touch to the day, the importance of collaboration between the guidance departments of the different CICAE schools was highlighted in order to start creating synergies between professionals. CICAEOrienta stands as a direct response to the needs of guidance counselors, to whom CICAE provides a networking network where schools, in a collaborative way, can improve their guidance practices.
Responsible for ensuring the academic and emotional well-being of students, for the early detection of their difficulties, for advising teachers on methodological adaptations and resources available to them, for accompanying families, for coexistence plans, for the mental health of young people, for the activation of the multitude of protocols that exist… These professionals are demanding more visibility, training and support.
