The development of skills such as oral expression, critical thinking, empathy, teamwork, analysis and resilience, among others, was what encouraged us to create this initiative together with the Camilo José Cela University.

The collaboration and effort of all schools and teachers has ensured that today the CICAE – UCJC Pre-University Debate League has the largest participation in Europe, taking place simultaneously in Spanish and English.

This is a training project from start to finish, where teachers undergo initial training at the beginning of the course and all participating students receive training in public speaking and debate techniques at their schools. If they wish to continue their growth in competition debate, they have the option of joining the Judges School, in order to be able to judge in the League itself.

Each year, three tournaments are organized (two qualifiers and the grand final), in which the students, from 3rd ESO to 2nd of Bachillerato, prepare for almost two months their lines of argument, both for and against, because until seconds before each tournament they do not know from which approach they will have to position themselves, in order to stimulate their critical thinking and respect for the opponent’s ideas.
