Acción contra el Hambre and the Association of Private and Independent Schools – CICAE have consolidated an alliance with the purpose of strengthening their cooperation to promote the participation of the school community in solidarity initiatives aimed at helping children in disadvantaged communities.
Although the two organizations have shared certain projects in recent years, the agreement was made official in October with the signing of a collaboration agreement between Olivier Longué, director of Action Against Hunger, and Gabriel Castellano, president of CICAE.
Gabriel Castellano considers it “a significant milestone to jointly address social challenges and engage the students of our schools in social causes that improve the lives of thousands of people every year”. The president of CICAE mentions that the association’s educational centers take part every year in solidarity activities that “not only have an essential cooperative component in society, but also enrich students in values such as solidarity, empathy, critical thinking and awareness of the importance of helping those who need it most”.
From Action Against Hunger, Carmen Gayo, Director of Communication and Fundraising, indicates that “working hand in hand with the education sector is key to laying the foundations for a fairer future, in which all people have access to adequate food and can enjoy the same opportunities”. The collaboration with CICAE, he adds, “will allow us to go further and show children and young people how they can do their bit. “
One of the initiatives that will be developed in the CICAE centers as a result of this agreement is the ‘Race Against Hunger’, promoted by Action Against Hunger in its globally recognized fight against malnutrition and poverty. The humanitarian organization will provide participating schools with the necessary content to work in the classroom, in order to bring students closer to the reality in which millions of disadvantaged children live and mobilize them to become protagonists in the fight against hunger, poverty and inequality.
