5 direct learnings from the best engineering universities in the U.S.

A few months ago we had the privilege of visiting some of the best engineering universities in the United States. Our goal was to capture the best ideas and innovations, and bring them to our classrooms through our product ROBOTIX C360 and specifically for subjects such as Technology and Digitization. Below, we share the most significant learnings we took away:

Hands-on Learning: learning by doing

At institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Rochester Institute of Technology, a fundamental principle resonates in every corner: “We learn by making things“. We learn by creating, experimenting and problem solving. Instead of memorizing, students are confronted with real challenges, where knowledge is applied in a practical way. This approach is fundamental to us, because in a world where information is accessible, the ability to create becomes more valuable than ever.

2. Specialized Maker Spaces

These spaces, where ideas take shape, are a crucial part of learning at the universities visited. We saw how makerspaces are equipped with advanced technology, allowing students to design, build and test their ideas. Such environments not only foster creativity, but also prepare students to tackle and solve real-world problems.

Security and High Availability

The maker infrastructures we visited are designed to be safe and accessible to all students. This inclusion is key for the spaces to be effective, allowing everyone to participate without barriers.

4. Interdisciplinary Project Work

We see students working on interdisciplinary projects, collaborating in teams to solve real challenges. This approach is what we want to enhance with ROBOTIX C360, ensuring that each project inspires and prepares students for a digital and collaborative future.

5. The Importance of Asking the Right Questions

Maker spaces not only help solve questions, but also foster students’ ability to ask the right questions. In the real world, obvious answers are rare; therefore, it is essential that students learn to formulate and explore relevant questions.

At ROBOTIX Hands-on Learning, we have integrated these valuable lessons in our solution ROBOTIX C360which provides schools with a progressive learning environment, project-based activities, automated assessment and ongoing support. This solution enables teachers and students to take full advantage of digital competencies, developing the skills needed to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
