The Public Speaking Tournament is an eminently educational project, both for teachers and participating students, with an ambitious program of face-to-face and online training sessions.<\/p>\n\n
<\/p>\n\n The response from our partner schools has been very positive, with 28 schools participating in this first l edition, with 60 teams and more than 600 students. <\/p>\n\n Aimed at students in 5th and 6th grade of primary school and 1st and 2nd year of ESO, organized in two categories, they can compete either in English or Spanish.<\/p>\n\n On January 13, the teaching teams received guidelines to help their students <\/strong>gain self-confidence when delivering their speeches. These included the necessary skills for managing nerves and communication resources useful for any intervention. They also received training in public speaking techniques and the best methods to help and train their students. Finally, they were able to learn in detail the different “tests” of the tournament, and how to train the speakers in these specifically. <\/p>\n\n <\/p>\n\n <\/p>\n\n <\/p>\n\n <\/p>\n\n <\/p>\n\n The students, in a first telematic qualifying phase<\/strong>, send videos of their speeches to the team of judges. They will take up to 8 training days where they will learn the best communication and public speaking techniques. They compete in “Teams”, although the speeches and most of the tests are individual, working for their team to achieve as many points as possible. <\/p>\n\n In the face-to-face phase, which will take place on April 27 in Madrid, <\/strong>the 4 students who qualify from each team will compete in 4 individual tests and one joint test in the final phase.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n All students will take a declamation test of a prepared speech, a speech on a free topic, an improvised speech, and an argumentative speech on one of the 5 current topics previously submitted. <\/p>\n\n The Oratory Tournament<\/strong> represents a unique opportunity for students to demonstrate their oratory and argumentative skills. The event will take place on April 27th <\/strong>at the Castellana Campus of the Camilo Jos\u00e9 Cela University, C\/ Juan Hurtado de Mendoza. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
